PTI Make It Monday & Online Card Camp Week 1

Hello! I was able to create a card today to combine two different challenges. Papertrey Ink's Make It Monday challenge was a Polaroid 2 step masking technique where you create a mask and them stamp inside it and outside of it (kind of).

I also signed up for the Online Card Camp taught by Jennifer McGuire and Krista Werner. It's four weeks during the summer of fun cardmaking - getting you out of your comfort zone (at least mine) by using different color combos and different techniques. This is week one of the camp. Here is the color challenge for this week:
Here is my card for both challenges. I used the color combo for the online card camp and the masking technique from Papertrey.
Here is the mask I used. First I cut the numbers (PTI Numbers dies) out of the square. Then I sponged the empty numbers in the mask (had to make sure I taped down the little triangle in the 4). Then I taped just the numbers over the numbers I had just sponged, and stamped the polkadots from PTI BB Polkadots2. Then I put the mask back on and sponged the edges. Make sense? I then added some bling in the form of glitter on the pink edges and rhinestones on each of the numbers. I think this would make a cute birthday card for someone.
I enjoyed learning this new technique from PTI and the color inspiration and examples from the online card camp. Can't wait for next week! Thanks for looking!

Onesie card

Hello! I am definitely in the baby card making mode lately. Looking forward to our first grandchild being born in August! It's a girl!  So here's a card I made out of the new PTI Onesie die. It's so easy to make the cards with this die! I just cut the whole die out of the patterned paper (lime twist collection from My Mind's Eye), the took an A2 card base in pink (PTI) and lined the top fold up with the little punched holes on the die (that way the fold doesn't get cut). Then you just line the two together, putting the patterned paper on the front of course. Since they are both cut from the same die, they line up perfectly. :) I embellished the front with little scallops cut using scalloped decorative scissors. Just lay white paper behind card and trace outline of legs, arms, neck, cutting on this line. Then use decorative scissors to cut scallops. I used glue and a pair of tweezers to attach them (little tiny pieces). I just love the results and hope you do too!

Gift cards for a friend's birthday

Hello! It's been quite a while since I've updated my blog. I've been super busy getting ready for a baby shower for my daughter Katie. I made the invitations, favors and games - I'll post pictures of all that soon. But for now, I needed a birthday gift for Terri, a friend from work. She just loves sending cards to people - she does it in her job as church secretary. I've been making cards for her to send out to our congregation and she always really likes them. So I thought it might be nice to make her a set for her own personal use. I had just received the new Daydreamers set from PTI and combined it with some fonts in the 2010 anniversary set from PTI to make these cards. I made two of each of the four cards, to make a set of 8 cards for her. All cards have the same basic layout - just changed the flower tops. Then I totally cased Michelle's cute little box for them - you can see her directions here.  Hope you enjoy - and I really hope she enjoys!
