Papertrey 6th Anniversary Boutique Accessory contest

Hello! I wanted to share some of my hair accessories with you today. I am entering them in the Papertrey Boutique Accessory contest here on Nicole's blog. I have been making felt hair clips for my granddaughter for awhile now, and I was delighted to see Erin's new dies to cut them out today, and the wonderful packaging to display them! I have been looking for a way to package my hair clips for my etsy store, and these will be perfect!

These are the felt hair clips I have made so far. I used several Papertrey dies to decorate them, including  Flower Fusion, Winter Penguin and Little Bitty Bird. I use all PTI felt, and there is no glue used - I hand stitch all of the decorations. I chose to use a buttonhole stitch to finish the edges instead of the backstitch I've seen on several others.


I made these little hairbands for my granddaughter when whe was a newborn. I used some elastic lace I found on Etsy, and some crochet flowers I purchased on Etsy too (I thought about trying to learn to crochet them, but soon decided it was alot easier just to purchase them in bulk!). The ribbon decoration is just a little accessory I purchased at Joann's and stitched onto the elastic. Very easy to make!


I made this next set of pins using embroidery stitches. The pattern is from a company called Bareroots - I just love all their designs. They are all made with just a simple backstitch and some french knots, then bordered with a little fabric and backed with more fabric. Al little more time consuming than the above accessories, but something to do while we watch tv in the evening.

This next pin is made using punch needle. It took quite a lot of time, but I love the results! It looks like a miniature hooked rug!












These cute little hairclips are made with a fabric covered button, glued onto the same type of snap clips used in the felt clips.


And last, but not least, a little woolen pin to pin to a jacket.

Papertrey 6th Anniversary Day 6 contest - sketches - card 3

Papertrey 6th Anniversary Day 6 contest - sketches - card 2

Hello! I used this sketch from Nicole's blog to make a Valentines Card for my 6 month old grandson.  This past week of anniversary festivities and challenges sure has been fun! I can't wait to see what's coming the next 4 days!

Papertrey 6th Anniversary Contest - Day 6 - sketches

Hello! It's Day 6 of the Papertrey 6th Anniversary festivities. Today's contest is to create a card (or comment) using one of the 5 sketches Nicole designed. You can get the sketches on her blog here. I chose this sketch, and oriented the card horizontally instead of vertically.

I used the Take Three die to make the windows, the heart border die, the With All My Heart stamp set, Pure Poppy and White cardstock, pure poppy felt, and some October Afternoon Thrift Shop patterned paper. This will be one of my grandkid's valentines. :) Thanks for looking!

Papertrey 6th Anniversary contest - Day five - Pretty Packaging

Hello, once again I am participating in the anniversary fun at Papertrey Ink. Today's challenge was to create some pretty packaging for a gift using at least one PTI stamp.

I found these tins on Pinterest and used them as my inspiration.




I happened to have some of these cute little tins on hand, so I filled one with little mints, tied it with a pink ribbon, and put a Tiny Tag on it with a sentiment from Tiny tags.

Papertrey 6th Anniversary DT Inspiration contest - card 5

Hello! Here is another card for the Papertrey Design Team Favorites Challenge. This time, I used Maile's card for inspiration. I'm always looking for ways to use my imense collection of washi tape. When I saw the striped lines on here card, and the Gracious Vases set (which I own, but have never used until now), I knew I had to give it a try. here is Maile's card:

Papertrey 6th Anniversary DT Inspiration contest - card 4

Hello! Back one more time to enter the Papertrey Design Team contest during the 6th anniversary week. This time I used Ashley Newell's card with the cute little banner of tags. I remember loving this card when she first put it up, but I never got around to caseing it until now. Here is Ashley's card:
Ashley put alot more time into making each little tag, which makes her so darn cute. :) I also just love the little metal pin things she used to hand the tags. These little tags always remind me of little babies, so I decided to make a baby boy card.

I didn't have any of the little hanger things like Ashley, so I used the little Tim Holtz paper clips instead. I used the Tiny Tags set and dies, the sentiment from Baby Button Bits, and Super Stripes background stamps. Also used spring rain patterned paper and the seeing stars border die. Hope you enjoy it! Papertrey 6th Anniversary DT Inspiration contest - card 3

Hello! Back again with another entry in the Paertrey Design Team Inspiration contest! I made another card inspired by Cristina Kowalczyk's card here:


I really like the clean simple lines of this card and how the sentiment takes center stage. I decided to use up some spare star borders I had cut earlier and designed a card with the masked off sentiment and alternating sized strips down the middle. here is my rendition:

Papertrey 6th Anniversary DT Inspiration contest - card 2

Hello! It's me again, back with another card inspired by the Papertrey Design Team. This card by Cristina Kowalczyk inspired me to make a cardto use up some of the washi tape I hoard collect. Here is Christina's card:


And here is my rendition. I used a sentiment from Harvest Berries. Instead of trying to figure out how to mask the washi tape, I just added the sentiment on a white strip of paper. Don't you just love the shot of my diet coke in the background?

Papertrey 6th Anniversary DT Inspiration contest - card 1

Hello! Here is my entry for the Design Team Inspiration challenge from the Papertrey 6th anniversary contest on Day 1. I used Melissa Phillip's card for my inspiration. I have always loved the flet/paper flowers Melissa has made on her cards! She really knows how to layer paper an felt together for some gorgeous embellishments. Here is the card Melissa chose as one of her favorites, and the one I chose to use as my inspiration.




Here is my case of her flowers (knowing that they will never be as beautiful as hers, but trying anyway!) :)

 

I used the notched flower dies, Beautiful Blooms 2 dies, Tremendous tags die, Mega Mixed Messages, Dear Jane Patterned paper and Ocean Tides patterned paper, as well as a left over scrap of die made when I cut two star borders. Hope you enjoy it! Thanks for the inspiration Melissa!

Papertrey 6th Anniversary Day Four Contest - card 3

Hello! Here's my last entry for the Year of Flowers Day Four contest over on Nicole's blog for the Papertrey 6th anniversary festivities. These are 4 tags I made using the YOF Collection set. I also used the Crackle mini set on the background of two of them. I added a bit of glitter to the flowers to give them some sparkle. Enjoy!

PapePapertrey Ink 6th Anniversary - Day Four contest - card 2

Hello! I'm back once again to enter the day 4 contest on Nicole's blog for the Year of Flowers. For more details, see my post here. I made cards similar to this one about a year ago when the Postmarks background set came out. I pulled that set out again, as well as the YOF Collection set to make this second card. I used the seed packet frame 2, and seed packet on the front, as well as a sentiment from Movers & Shakers. Hope you enjoy!

Papertrey Ink 6th Anniversary - Day Four contest - card 1

Hello! I hope you are having a good day today! There has been so much excitement over at the Papertrey forum over all the 6th anniversary announcements being made on Nicole's blog here. Today, the fourth day of sneek peeks, Nicole announced that the remaining 11 flowers in the Year Of Flowers Series would have matching dies released on the 15th! I know alot of people are very excited about this announcement. I only have four of the monthly flowers, as well as the YOF Collection set. I know these dies will come in really handy to make some beautiful cards. :)

The contest for today is to make a card using one of the sets in this series. The first card I made uses the YOF Roses set. The rose is probably one of my favorite flowers and I really enjoyed watercoloring this one! I used watercolor paper, embossed the rose with white embossing powder, and colored it in with watercolors. I mounted the watercolor design on berry sorbet cardstock and then again onto white cardstock. Once it was dry, I sprayed Tattered Angels mist over it to add some sparkle and shine. I can't wait to give this out for a wedding card!

Papertrey 6th Anniversary Contest - Day Two - Card Two

Hello! This is my second card for the Papertrey Day Two contest using one of the PTI stamp designer's images. This time, I chose the birthday candle image by Lizzie Jones. This is such a versatile birthday image - I'm sure I'll be using it on lots of cards in the near future! Thanks to the PTI designers for their hard work during the past year - I can't wait to see what you've got in store next year!

I used Lizzie's image mounted on a Limitless Layers scalloped circle and Delightful Doily, the Just the Ticket stamp set and doe, Polka Dot Basics 2 for the background, Simply Chartreuse patterned paper, the birthday Think Big Favorites (can't remember which one it is - I store them all together), and some twine. Papertrey 6th Anniversary Contest - Day Two

Hello! I am participating in Papertrey's 6th Anniversary challenges this week - as much as I can anyway. Happy Happy Anniversary PTI! You have certainly filled my days the past few years with lots of inspiration and joy. Today we salute the Papertrey Stamp Designers - Dawn, Erin, Heather, Lexi, Lizzie, Maile, Melissa and Tiffany! Thanks so much to all these gals for their hard work and creativity! You always think of the stamps we never knew we needed - until we see them created by your hands. You are amazing!

For the challenge today, each of these lovely ladies designed a special digital stamp for us to use in a project. I chose to use the cute teacup that Melissa designed. I opened the pdf with the designs in Photoshop and cropped out the little flowers on top of the cup - I though they were so darling! I then duplicated these flowers to make a strip of border for the bottom of my card. I cut the teacup image out with a 1 3/4" circle punch and mounted it on a delightful doily diecut. I printed the image a second time and cut the sentiment out and separated it to fit on a tremendous tags die cut out of soft stone patterned paper to resemble a tea bag. All this was mounted on an aqua mist card base, stamped with a flower from Friends Till the End in Hawaiian Shores ink.

Mood board

Sophie's quilt

Hello! It's been awhile since I've blogged, but I have a good excuse. :) My daughter gave birth to a beautiful baby girl last Wedensday and I've been helping her out. She has another 17 month little girl and has her hands full right now. I am so blessed to have these two little granddaughters! The newest baby is Sophie. I always make a quilt for my grandchildren, and wanted to share a few pictures of Sophie and her quilt with you.
First - sweet Sophie - we just love her to pieces already! :)

Sophie's room is decorated in light purple and light green, so those are the colors of her quilt also. Here is a picture of the quilt and the quilt label.

 I used some Papertrey Ink stamps on the label - The Sweet life and Inside/Out Baby. I just love how the roses in Sweet Life coordinate with the background fabric in the quilt!
