Papertrey SAF 2013: Sweet Sugar Coated Embellishments Challenge

Sugar-coatedHello! I am entering my card for the Sugar Coated Embellishments challenge over at Papertrey. The "sugar coating" is glitter, and I have TONS of glitter that I've accumulated over the past few years and was glad to get an excuse to pull it out and use it on a card. My card uses the Leaf Prints Stamp Set, a sentiment from Autumn Hills, and Kraft cardstock, Autumn Abundance Patterned Paper and Teracotta Tile cardstock. I stamped a couple of the leaves and glittered the veins on the leaves. I need to find a glue with a fine tip that actually works, as my Martha Stewart one kept skipping on me. But I like the way this card turned out - kind of earthy. Hope you enjoyed the day today at PTI Stamp-a-faire!

Papertrey SAF 2013: Rolled Dough Designs

DanielleHello! I have a set of buttons that I made using the Paperclay dough and the techniques demonstrated by the PTI design team. I particularly liked Danielle's buttons she made.
I used the smallest heart from the Heartprints dies and cut out little hearts from my dried, rolled Paperclay. I punched little holes in the centers to make them buttons, and stamped them with the Bitty Background Blocks stamps. I used Aqua Mist, Ocean Tides and Berry Sorbet inks. Then I put them on a button card made with the Button Card die and the Button Boutique stamp set. I really like how they turned out!

Papertrey SAF 2013: Mixing Mists to Match Challenge

Mixing-Mists-to-Match-Recipe

Hello! I am submitting a card for the "Mixing Mists to Match" Challenge for the Stamp-a-faire 2013.I mixed up a small misting bottle with rubbing alcohol and then added 75 drops of Aqua Mist ink refil and shook it up. I then heat embossed the Queen Anne's lace from Meadow Greens with white embossing powder  onto a Tag Sale #1 diecut and then sprayed the mist over top. I then stamped a sentiment from the same set and misted over that too. I was wondering if the ink on the sentiment would run, but it did not - maybe because the mist is rubbing alcohol instead of water.  It was so fun to watch the image appear when the mist was sprayed! I am so excited to be able to make my own mists in the PTI colors now! All I have to do  now is buy a bunch of mister bottles and alot of rubbing alcohol! Here is my card:
Thanks for looking!  Susan :)

Papertrey SAF 2013 Tea Dye Technique

SAF-2013-LogoHello! I am back with another entry in the tea dye technique challenge. I tea dyed some muslin and cut it with my Beautiful Blooms Dyes as well as some vinatge lace and burlap. I made a flower similar to Melissa Phillps' flower. I put the flower on a kraft card base stamped with Mini Blooms clusters with Classic Kraft ink. I thought the card needed a little something else, so I ties some twine around it. This twine, which I got at PaperSource, has a nice sparkle thread running through it.
Here is my card:

I also wanted to share with you one of my favorite things in my stamping workspace. I was looking for a way to store my ever growing stash of twine. I found this old Coca-Cola crate at an antique market and thought it might work for my PTI felt, but decided against that because it was kind of in rough shape. But the other day a thought came to me to use it for my twine. Wouldn't you know it, I had the exact number of twine spools to fit it! Extra bigger spools are kept on top, and a few sampler cards of twine are propped on the side of it. One of the neat things is that I can walk over to it and just pull out the amount of twine I need and cut it off and take it back to my desk. I really love looking at it too. Hope it gives you ideas!

Chloe's presents and card

Hello! It's hard to believe, but my little granddaughter is almost two years old! Her mommy is planning a birthday party later this month and the theme is "owls". Chloe just LOVES owls - and I'm starting to too! They are everywhere in the crafting world - just check out owls on Pinterest! So I've been collecting "owl" things and files for months now, knowing she loves owls. So here is a little tshirt I embroidered using embroidery files I purchased on etsy here.

Then I made what is now the most favorite card I've ever made - and I've made ALOT! I think it's because so much love went into this card. As I said, I've been collecting "owl" things and files for a while. I saw this awesome tri-fold card on Pinterest and decided to use that format for my card. All the owls on the card are files I bought in the online Silhouette store. I did a "print and cut" of them using my Silhouette Cameo. I was going to cut out each piece individually and piece each owl together, but the thought of that seemed overwhelming, given the size of the owls. Overall, I'm happy with how the print and cut did. The patterned paper is Papertrey, the #2 is Papertrey By the Numbers and By the Numbers Mats, and the Little Labels and stamped images are all from Papertrey. I added some rhinestones and glitter for the "bling" factor. I can't wait for her to see it. She may not appreciate all the work that went into it now, but her mama saves all the cards I make her, and one day when she is older, she will be able to look through them and see all the love I put into them. :)

 This is the card front.

 The card laid flat.

I will write our message on the back of the card since the front is already full to the brim! I'm also going to make a family of stuffed owls - a mommy, daddy, two little girls and a big brother. I'll post pictures of them when they are done. Hope you enjoyed looking at these gifts of love. :)
