Celebrate with Concord and 9th

Hello! I have recently discovered Concord and 9th - a relatively new stamp company. Their stamp sets and dies prove to be innovative and unique. I love the way they think out their designs so well to be used in many different ways. In their September release, they came out with dies and stamps to make 3 dimensional cards with Christmas themes! Both of those bundles are on the way to me, and I will be blogging about them soon. Love this design - just one more example of their innovative designs.

Here is one of my cards for this challenge: It is a celebration of fall. I made a shaker card using the Layering Leaves dies. I cut the leaves from the card base, then inserted different colored ones back in. I backed the base with clear cardstock and made a shaker out of it. I filled it with little gold beads. It's hard to see the sparkle in this picture, but it really shakes and sparkles great! I just love how this turned out!

Shakers, Sprinkles, Tinsels and Tags

Hello! I have been playing with my new make-it-Market Kits the past few days. The first kit I got was Shakers and Sprinkles, and I just received the Tinsel and Tags kit a few days ago. I have made  several of the shaker cards, and given most of them away. I have made two ornaments from the T&T kit so far.The first one I stamped the tree, house, deer and snowman with the coordinatings stamps in the kit.

 The second ornament I used black for the sky layer, and left everything else white for a nighttime scene.

Then I got to thinking that maybe some of the scenery dies in the T&T kit might work with the S&S frames for a shaker element. I used the oval frame from S&S, the house layer and small banner from T&T. I stamped the coordinating images from the set, added some fun snowflake tinsel from Michaels, and some of the faux snow from the T&T kit. With a little trimming, the rounded house scene worked perfectly!

Two things I would change next time - less of the snowflakes, and not make the snow layer popped up with foam tape - the filler gets caught behind the layer. I did use two layers of the foam tape to give the shaker more depth though - I think that helped. So many ideas floating around in my head. :) Thanks for stopping by!

Good Tidings Shaker Snowglobe Card

Hello! I was so excited to see my Papertrey box on my doorstep this afternoon! I had ordered a couple of Betsy Veldman's shaker Christmas dies and was anxious to try them out. I knew there would be a lot of images and diecuts that would fit inside this globe. I started with the "In The Meadow" Set of dies.

I cut the snowglobe backing from white cardstock, the front of the globe in Limeade Ice, and the base in Simply Chartreuse. I was looking for a tree image to put behind the ITM deer dies because the tree in that set is really too big for the globe. I looked through my stamp sets and finally found the trees I thought would work in the "Masculine Motifs" set. I stamped them with Limeade ice, and then cut the deer out of dark chocolate cardstock. I also cut one of the ITM snowdrifts to place the second deer on. He is popped up on foam adhesive. Because I had the deer popped up, I had to use two layers of foam adhesive (I know, it just about killed me to use up that much of that precious double sided adhesive!) in order for the shaker contents to have room to move around. I stamped the Good Tidings sentiment (from ITM) with dark chocolate on the globe base. I tied a little silver cord around the base and attached the finished snow globe to a card front covered with paper from the Papertrey Christmas Prints paper pad. I used some Martha Stewart coarse glitter and some of the snow globe confetti inside the shaker. So fun!

Papertrey 2104 Anniversary Contest - Word Focal Point challenge

Hello! I am beginning to lose track of what day of the Papertrey anniversary it is! There have been so many new products sneaked and announced already that I have to admit, I am a bit overwhelmed! Today's challenge is all about using words as a focal point on our card. You can read more about it here on Nichole's blog. I chose to work with the Wonderful Words: Love die. Seems like I've had that aout alot in the last couple weeks. I've been making the coolest valentines for my grandchildren, which I will be sharing in the next couple days.
I created two cards for today's challenge. The first one used patterned paper form the Sweet Fairy paper pad from Prima, and the Love die cut in ombre shades.

 The second card is a shaker card made with the Fabulous Frames large die and the Love diecut. I also used one of the sentiment images from Love & Marriage in the background. I think maybe I put too many hearts in the shaker because they don't move around very easily. Oh well!
