PTI Make it Monday February 14

The Make It Monday technique on the video over on Nicole's blog was how to make, score, and apply a vellum sentiment strip to a card. I've always admired the cards she's done with this technique and was glad to finally give it a try. That part was easy, the coloring of the marbles took forever. I couldn't decide whether to apply a clear coat over the marbles - went back and forth about it - but in the end decided not to, since I like a vintage look better. Usually when I see marbles at an antiques store, they are kind of dull - all the shine long gone due to hours and hours of memory making when playing with them. I think I'd rather have the dull, non-shiny marbles with memories, than some new shiny ones that were kept in pristine condition, never played with - what about you?
Anyway, here's my answer to this week's challenge. I used cream cardstock, the jar, lid, sentiments and marbles from Friendship Jar and the first fillers set, PTI twine, distressed dots paper, and some antique buttons in my stash. Hope you enjoy!

PTI BIG Challenge

Today's Papertrey 4th anniversary challenge was to design a card with something BIG on it, in honor of the new stamp set Think Big Favorites coming out by Papertrey on February 15th. These BIG sentiments will be released a couple every month this year as small $5 sets. What a great resource for a card when you want to get it done quick. Puts the sentiment at center stage.
It took me awhile to come up with what I would do for this challenge, since I obviously don't have them in my possession yet, but I was up in my sewing room and came across this BIG layered flower I had made at a Make & Take at a scrapbook show near me a couple years ago. I can't remember the company that came up with these flowers, but it was a set of dies and stamps that went together. The fun part is adding all the bling to each layer!
I used the PTI By the Numbers impression plate on the pink cardstock background, a die cut from Filliable Frames #1, and stamps from Big Birthday Wishes. Hope you enjoy!

Hello! Today's PTI 4th anniversary challenge is to create a tag that incorporates a frame. Here's a cheery tag to brighten up someone's day.
I used PTI melon berry, white, and rustic cream cardstock, stamp sets All about Uou, Fillable frame #4, and Signature Greetings, as well as the FF#4 die, and banner borders die and Spellbinders #10 dies. Hope you enjoy!

My PTI stamp index

I print the web images off the PTI website for each stamp set I own, then print them 2 to a page - 8 1/2 x 11 landscape. Then I cut the paper in half, punch holes to fit my little binder, and file them alphabetically. It's a great resource to just sit and look through. I've often found myself picking a stamp set out of it that I haven't used in a while and pulling it out of my storage box to make a card with. For me, if I can't "see" it, I forget I have it. So this is a good reminder. I make the image as big as I can for the half page, so the sentiments are easy to see. I can flip through this little book and find sentiments, images I'm specifically looking for instead of having to pull out each cd case and look through it. Here's a picture of the little binder.

Papertrey Button project challenge

Hello! Today is the first day of the official Papertrey February countdown! And the products are fabulous! A wonderful button card and button making set, cute little flowers, dainty doilies, newsy background, little baby backgrounds - and tons of new dies! What a day! You should go to Nicole's blog and see all the awesome creations the design team came up with! The challenge for today was to use buttons in a unique way on a project. I looked through my PTI stamp sets, thinking and thinking, and finally came up with this card. At our family reunions, we always love to play Bingo. And you use whatever you can find for the little markers for the squares. Why not buttons? I had these antique white buttons in my stash (being a quilter), and thought they'd work perfect on the Bingo card in the It's Official stamp set. So here it is - enjoy!
I used the PTI It's Official stamp set, the notebook die, the ticket die, paper from Library Ledger patterned paper, black Versamark ink, chocolate baker's twine, kraft cardstock, and old antique buttons.

Papertrey challenges - two in one

Hello there! Papertrey Ink is celebrating their 4th anniversary this week, and boy, do they celebrate in style! They have had some of the most fabulous prizes - things like $700 worth of stamps, $250 PTI gift certificate, designing a stamp set with Nicole Heady, going to stamp for a day with Nicole! OMG - how fun would that be! - anyway, two of the latest challenges are met by this card of mine. The Make it Monday challenge was to create a sentiments card using similar sentiments from different PTI stamp sets - it really surprised me how many "friend" stamps I had! Today's challenge was to use one of the color schemes used by the design team in their cards today. I picked the color scheme by Erin Lincoln  here:
I just love these colors together! I used "friend" sentiments from 13 different PTI stamp sets! Here's my card for both challenges:
I used vintage cream, ocean tides, dark chocolate PTI cardstock, fresh snow, ripe avocado, and dark chocolate ink, 1/4" white/cream silk ribbon from PTI, the Love Lives Here butterfly die, and "friends" sentiments from 13 different PTI stamp sets. Hope you like it!

PTI Sentiments Card challenge

I was thinking about the sentiments card challenge from PTI on the Make it Monday technique, and realized that I had a card like that in my stash. It doesn't use alot of different sets, but it uses the sentiment from the Matt Stack 2 collection over and over. I'm not sure if it qualifys or not, but here goes anyway.
I used PTI white and kraft cardstock, It's Official patterned paper, dark chocolate and fresh snow ink, Matt Stack 3 die and Matt Stack 2 stamp set, and bakers twine. Thanks for looking!

PTI rocks!

It's Papertrey Ink's 4th celebration this week, and the first one I've really been involved in. I just started PTI about a year ago and have become thoroughly addicted to their products. They seem to be the only stamps I ever reach for anymore. Anyway, Papertrey is having some awesome anniversary challenges and prizes this week. Yesterday was a prize package of PTI goodies worth over $700 - and a girl that lives within a half hours of me actually won! Isn't that cool? In today's post on Nicole's blog here, She gave us a free download of PTI digital tags made by each of the stamp designers. She challenged us to use at least one of them on a card. The big prize for today is a chance to work with Nicole to actually design the stamp set of our dreams! I have no idea what mine would be if I won, but it's definitely got me thinking.  All the tags are beautiful, but this one by Alli Miles especially caught my vintage eye. So here's my card - vintaged up as usual. Hope you enjoy it!

I used PTI products: Matt Stack 4, rustic cream and berry sorbet cardstock, Limitless layers dies, the tag by Alli Miles, and the sentiment from Fillable Frames (not sure which set). I also used a paper doily from Michaels, wrinkle ribbon I died, copic markers, and some patterned paper by DCWV - Nana's Nursery.

Valentines Day cards

Hello! This evening I've been working on my Valentine's Day cards for the kids and Lucas. I haven't started on Anthony's yet - waiting on inspiration for that. Here's what I came up with for the others.

For Lucas - trying not to get too mushy for an 8 year old boy - he's our new grandson. I used PTI stamp sets Fly Away and All around sentiments.

This is Davids' card - hope it's not too kiddish for a 27 year old...  I had to cut to back cover off the PTI bitty dots paper pack to get the red. I used PTI stamp set Tiny Treats Valentine, Spellbinders dies, and PTI baker's twine as well.
Both the girls got this card - Kelly & Jon because they are in the process of buying their first home, and Katie & Jon because they are celebrating their first Valentines Day as husband & wife. I used the PTI stamp set Love Lives Here, October Afternoon paper, and PTI bakers twine.
