My Wool Folk Art Album Quilt

Hello! I would like to share my Wool Folk Art Album quilt with you today. I love to work with wool applique. No edges to turn under. I have amassed a ton of wool over the past few years. Mostly from Clearbrook Woolen Shop in Clearbrook VA, when it was going out of business. But I also have picked up pieces through the years at quilt shows and shops. A few years ago, I was at the Mid- Atlantic Quilt Show in Hampton, VA, and saw a wool quilt displayed in one of the booths. It was just gorgeous! I inquired about it inside the booth and was told that it was a BOM (Block of the Month) quilt. Basically, each month you pay approx. $15 (automatically charged to your charge card), and then you are mailed an envelope with the wool and directions needed to complete one of the blocks on the quilt. The name of this pattern is "Wool Folk Art Album" and it was designed by Lisa Hoefler Bongean.
The kit was actually put together by Kay Moore, who owns the booth I saw the quilt in. I worked pretty diligently over the year to complete my blocks. But the idea of the sashing triangles and all the applique on the border overwhelmed me, and the completed blocks sat for over a year unfinished. Finally, I decided it had sat long enough and I tackled the sashing and borders. The sashing went pretty quickly actually, once I finally committed to them. The hardest part was cutting out all the individual pieces and fusing them to the borders. I did all the applique on the individual border strips before I added them to the quilt. That made it alot easier to take it with me and work on it. Once the top was completed, it sat quite a while waiting for me to decide how to quilt it. I finally decided on a combination of echo quilting and meandering and set to work. I was so happy to finally see it completed! So without further ado - here it is!
